Dealer Notes

The 2019 Honda Accord is the result of thoughtful engineering, expressed through strong character lines, LED headlights, and LED fog lights. The front-end is as innovative as it is distinctive, with Active Grille Shutters and Air Curtains that help improve aerodynamics and efficiency. With a muscular fastback-inspired design, the Accord offers passengers head-turning style with ample space. The quiet cabin features high-quality, soft-touch materials and an expansive front view for an exciting combination or elegance and convenience. Ergonomic design meets soft-touch, high-quality trim-including available leather wrapped steering wheel to create a cabin unlike any other. A full color 7in touch screen offers customizable digital in-dash display, simplifying access to the information you need. The generous trunk space gives you plenty of room for gear, groceries or whatever you need to fill your life with. Accord offers three advanced powertrains, including 1.5L and 2.0L turbocharged engines and a next generation two-motor hybrid system. Add a thrill with available paddle shifters, a standard 6-speed manual transmission on Sport trims or deceleration selectors on Hybrid trims. An adaptive damper system actively controls suspension action, while wheel resonators help minimize road noise for a refined driving experience. The Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System features maps and provides lane guidance and live search functionality. Accord comes with Honda Sensing standard, an intelligent suite of safety and drive assistive technologies that can help you stay aware on the road and could even help avoid a collision.

This Accord has made me happy. I had to purchase it quickly after my A5 was totaled and my insurance company gave me little time in a rental. With mostly around town driving I was able to see how having the torque down low was of great benefit. I traveled to Austin to COTA and while on the toll roads 85 - 90 was comfortable and quiet. I kept driving on that tank until Thursday and was happy to avg 33.8 MPG of mixed Hwy and City. I tend to have a lead foot and obtaining that surprised me. I have played with many of the electronic systems and love the integration of these systems. If you explore the car systems, you will find items that will make ownership more enjoyable. Smooth when you want it, capable when you need it. HUGE trunk and backseat doesnt hurt.

I live in Texas and purchased my Honda Accord 1.5 Touring model in January 2018. I did not have a single complaint until approx. April. I started hearing this rattling noise coming from my heads up display in the driver side dashboard. I took it in, they dealership advised me that Honda was aware of the problem but at this time there was no fix for it. I noticed that it got worse when the car was getting exposed to heat and eventually once the car cooled off the rattling noise would stop. I took it back in about a month later, they again told me that there was no fix for it and it was due to how compact the car was. ANNOYING!! Its June and the noise is now daily due to the summer heats in Texas. Also, the front sensors often go off when Im at a complete stop at a stoplight for no absolute reason, dealership ran a diagnostic and they cant duplicate the problem. This is my second Accord (previous one was 2013-EXL) and I have to admit that I had extremely higher expectations for it considering my previous experiences. The gas mileage is pretty amazing and the design itself is sleek. I will most likely trade out of the vehicle within the next year.

I came out of a 2015 Genesis sedan lease and financed the 2018 Accord Touring the day it went on sale in October 2017. I test drove the 2018 Camry (Toyota missed a lot of the tech the Accord has, making it a no go for me, even in the top trim level...plus the Camry costs more), 2017 CR-V (nice vehicle, but Accord had a few features the CR-V doesnt, like cooled seats and the newer Honda infotainment system), 2017 Mazda CX-5 (nice, but missing some tech), and the 2018 Audi A5 Sportback (super nice, but with a price tag to go along with it...57K). The Accord was the clear winner of the bunch. It is somewhat reminiscent of my Genesis from a tech standpoint, but for 20K less. The Accord is easily the most luxurious feeling midsize family sedan Ive driven, trumping even the Mazda 6. The material and build quality in the cabin is top notch; everything feels great to the touch. The active safety tech works well. The cabin is roomy and visibility is great. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are very useful and work well with Hondas new infotainment system (the 2018 Odyssey is the only other Honda with this new system). The sound system in the Touring is pretty good. Not an enthusiast-level system by any means, but certainly better than most non-luxury car high-end systems Ive heard. The heated and cooled seats work very well. The car is relatively quiet on the highway compared to the competition, although coming from a Genesis which was bank vault-quiet, it seems a bit noisy by comparison. I do mostly highway driving at 77 MPH and have been averaging 34 MPG combined which is good, but not amazing. My car is the Radiant Red Metallic with Ivory leather and the combo is quite striking. Ive been stopped by a few people who cant believe it is an Accord. On the negative side of things: power is just adequate. Its not slow, but compared to competitors with a V-6 or even the upcoming 2.0T Accord, it is a bit underwhelming. If you want performance, wait for the 2.0T at the end of Nov 2017. It is faster than the old V-6 Accord and even the new Camry V-6. The other benefit of the 2.0T will be the 10-speed auto in place of the CVT the 1.5T has. Its is okay as far as CVTs go, but not my favorite kind of transmission. Bottom line: this is without a doubt the best midsize family sedan on the market currently. Toyota tried with the new Camry, but failed pretty hard in my book. The Camrys 8-speed transmission is jerky, the interior is a bit of a chocolate mess, there is no Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, no ventilated seats, and no memory seats at ANY trim level, even the fully loaded XSE V-6 which costs an unbelievable 40K. Every major auto publication comparison test between the two cars has given the Accord the victory at every trim level, so theres no doubt the Accord will continue its reign as the most winning vehicle of all time on Car and Drivers annual 10 Best List.
